About the Wilcox Family
Steve and Carol both come from agricultural backgrounds, and it's important that we give our guests a glimpse of what life on a ranch or farm is all about. Our goal is to make the land and animals sustainable through intensive, holistic methods. Carol loves to cook, quilt, garden, and teach things of the past to younger generations. Steve is a retired vo-ag teacher, who still likes to herd cattle on horseback. He also plays guitar and sings with the band, "The Ruby Valley Boys and Barbwire".
Layne and Candy take care of the horse and roping venue. Candy is a Vet. Tech. She cares for rehabilitation horses, and also gives riding lessons. Her passion is barrel-racing and cutting. Layne is the in-house farrier and runs the team roping enterprise. He also owns Advantage Backcountry Outfitters, a big game hunting camp. Candy and Layne breed and train quarter horses.
